Details of the 7-Day Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla Safari

Day 1:

Pick up and Transfer to Volcanoes National Park

Meet and greet your guide/driver who will take you through a briefing about the 7-Day Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla Safari. After the briefing, you will journey for approximately 2 hours to Volcanoes National Park. Volcanoes National Park is Rwanda’s prime gorilla trekking destination, located in the northern part of Rwanda. Volcanoes National Park consists of both wild mountain gorillas and habituated mountain gorillas, which are safe for visitor experience. Gorilla trekking is done in groups of 8 pax, and visitors are allowed to spend 1 hour. Arrive at the lodge and check in for your overnight.

Day 2:

Gorilla Trekking Experience

Enjoy breakfast and gather at the park headquarters for a briefing about gorilla trekking, including the rules and guidelines to follow while observing the gorilla in their natural habitats. Later, embark on a thrilling gorilla trekking experience as you navigate through the dense forests of Volcanoes National Park in search of the gorillas. Once you find the gorillas, you will spend 1 hour with them and later head back to the starting point, where you will meet your guide. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 3:

Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Enjoy an early morning breakfast and later embark on a scenic drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park, including a border crossing to Uganda. Your journey will take you about 5 hours, including a lunch stopover. Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s second largest protected area, located in the western part of Uganda, renowned for consisting of diverse array of wildlife and over 600 bird species. Expect to spot a variety of wildlife and birds. Queen Elizabeth National Park features the Kazinga Channel, which is famous for game drives where visitors enjoy scenic views and wildlife viewing. Arrive at the lodge in the evening and check in for your dinner and overnight.

Day 4:

Full-day Game Drive

Enjoy a restful breakfast at the lodge, and later head out for a full-day game drive in the Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will have a chance to spot various animals, including lions, leopards, buffalo, elephants, Uganda kobs, monkeys, baboons and different bird species. Enjoy lunch at the lodge and later proceed with your game drive. In the evening, return to the lodge and enjoy peaceful relaxation and dinner.

Day 5:

Chimpanzee Trekking and Afternoon Boat Cruise

After breakfast, you will drive to Kyambura Gorge for your chimpanzee trekking experience. The experience will start with a briefing from the park rangers and later start trekking into the forest as you search for the chimpanzees. Once you find the chimpanzees, you will spend q hour with these creatures and later return to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, you will proceed for an afternoon boat cruise on Kazinga Channel, which separates the park into southern and northern parts. During your boat cruise, you will spot wild species such as elephants, waterbucks, hippos, crocodiles, monitor lizards and different bird species. Return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.

Day 6:

Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park and Evening Game drive

Enjoy a mouth-watering breakfast at the lodge, and later proceed to one of Uganda’s smallest national parks, Lake Mburo National Park. Lake Mburo features the largest population of zebras and is also home to giraffes, elands, impala, Uganda kobs, buffaloes, hippos, warthogs and other wildlife species. Arrive at the lodge and check in for your lunch and stay. After lunch, you will proceed to the park for an evening game drive with a UWA park ranger, where you will spot different animal species. The evening game drive shall take you about 3 hours and later return to the lodge for your dinner and overnight.

Day 7:

Morning Game Drive and Transfer to Entebbe International Airport.

Rise early in the morning with a morning game drive to catch up on some of the missed sightings, and later head back to the lodge for your breakfast. After breakfast, embark on an approximately 5-hour drive to Entebbe International Airport with a stopover at the Uganda Equator for a photo moment and relaxation. Later, you will proceed to Entebbe. Arrive at Entebbe International Airport and check in for your departure as you conclude the 7-Day Uganda and Rwanda Gorilla Safari.
